Chipboards are made from small chips of wood bonded together under pressure. After drying, the chips are blown on to a forming platen and a multi-layered mat can be built up. Fine chips at the top and bottom of the matt provide a smooth surface suitable for painting. This "mat" is hot -pressed under high pressure. The cooled boards are trimmed to size and sanded.
Chipboard is homogenous material for many end uses. Boards can be finished and coated differently.
